Looking forward to doing the camino francés this July, together with my eldest daughter, and to taking this disruptive break to reflect, get healthy, connect, and come back into the fray of daily life with renewed perspective and vigor. I hope to take one of my children every year, and eventually, my lovely bride (once the kids are old enough to handle mama and papa away for that long).
Some might look at the camino as “an escape,” but I see it as an occasional change of vantage point and leap of Faith, freshening perspective and humbling oneself to know that life back home or at work can, if it has to, go on without you.
As I make preparations for this walk, I look forward to preparing my household and the company, as best I can, to move forward… a test of leadership for me perhaps, but also a chance to let them explore and soar for a time.
Going to do all 800 km this year… Hoping to drop 2kg/day, to get my cardio strength back up, to take in lots of sun, fresh air, sounds and scents of the world around me, and to engage with and learn from others.
Most of all, I look forward to more time in reflection on my walk with God, and in spending time in communion with Him.
The Camino is calling, once again…
